About
Lucy Wilson is a British artist living and working in Cambridge. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts.
She graduated from Camberwell College of Arts with a First Class degree, where her work was described as “exactly what students should be attempting - the impossible, the outrageous, the sublime. It certainly jolts you out of whatever conceptions you previously held… the grand illusion and sheer audacity of the conception.”
She received a place at the Royal College of Art but her career turned towards galleries and arts institutions in London, where she also wrote for art magazines, before moving into publishing.
She rediscovered her drawing practice during lockdown and has since been drawing from life and via workshops and masterclasses with the Royal Drawing School and London Drawing. Her work was shortlisted for the Sir John Hurt Art Prize in 2021.
Her drawings are mainly figurative - portraits of people doing, thinking, daydreaming, working.
